How Much Protein?

Protein shakes are increasing in popularity, and sometimes people are consuming too much unknowingly. Consuming too much protein will make your body turn the excess protein into fat. I read an article today (http://www.eatright.org/resource/fitness/sports-and-performance/fueling-your-workout/protein-and-the-athlete) that I really liked and found so useful. It confirmed what I was taught.... when training, you should consume 1.2 to 2.0 g of protein per kg of your body weight. We can get all our protein needs from the food we eat, but protein shakes are quick and easier to get to right after a workout.

Protein is important for growth, maintenance, and repair of cells.
